This activity has 3 tiers based on student understanding. In each tier, students are required to find the area of the shaded region applying their knowledge of multiplying and subtracting polynomials. The high and medium tiers of this activity have extension questions. The lowest tier leads the student to the concept behind finding the area of the shaded region and will then be able to complete the 2nd tier. Each tier has a rubric where students can provide feedback to their peers.
Students will translate twelve algebraic verbal expressions to color the picture.
Great resource to use in stations, reteaching, homework, or a fun activity in class!

The beginning of this activity can be skipped or used to introduce the concept of graphing piecewise functions. Students will graph 3 functions separately then cut the function based on the given domain. Then the students will paste all 3 pieces on one graph. There are 2 cut & paste exercises. Lastly, the students will graph a piecewise function on their own without cutting and pasting. This part of the ac
This riddle activity is a great way to get students working together and talking about math! They will be given either a point and a slope or two points which reinforces the slope formula and converting point-slope form to slope-intercept form. Answer key is included.
Forget the scissors and glue and let this digital activity do all the work for you! Students will solve the quadratic equations and then match the answers to the equations. They can show their work on a separate piece of paper or on a google doc. I recommend having the students use MathType as an Add On feature if you choose to have the students use google docs. You will have to download the PPT presentation to access the link.
Students will complete 7 out of 9 of the rational expressions. The rational expressions include: monomials, binomials (including difference of squares), and trinomials (a = 1). Students can complete the maze independently or in pairs. This would even be great to use as a center in your classroom if you have other activities to help your students practice.
Students will learn to use the TI-84 Graphing Calculator to graph linear functions in slope-intercept form and standard form. Guided questions are asked throughout the activity to reinforce the use of specific buttons on the calculator such as zoom, window, and table.
This Around the World activity has students complete 8 problems where they solve systems of equations by substitution. The questions increase in the level of difficulty as students progress through the questions. Answers are included in the notes on each slide. You can edit this file to change the directions, if desired.
