This learning task can be introduced at the beginning or at the end of an Inquiry unit for the Canadian Communities strand of Social Studies. Students are asked to research on existing reflections of a Canadian Identity and then to redesign those symbols based on new information that they have synthesized during the unit learning. Students are further challenged to think critically about how representations of the "Canadian Identity" are or are not inclusive. Please feel free to share your feed

I used this chart in my grade 5 class one year as a program for student character development. Students sat in pods and were encouraged to proceed up the chart as a group by practising positive student behaviors. I also created posters with their pictures to recognize their achievements.
