This is a fun survey that you can use to get to know your students and how they feel about different areas of their home and school life. It is not writing intensive so all students will have access to share their thoughts. I've used humor to engage the students with an inventory that is short enough that you can review a class and hit the ground running with your group!

This activity is based on my beginning of the year book: Doors in the Air. I do a read aloud with "Doors in the Air," and then discuss the story and hopes and goals for the year. This activity is designed so that students can express what they feel their "doors in the air" (opportunities) will be in the coming year. The documents can be printed and turned into student booklets. Good luck!
This is the student ballot that you can use for the mock student awards that you can hold at the end of the Song Lyric Analysis learning experience. My students really found that this was an exciting way to cap of an interesting learning experience! Have fun with it!
