About the store
I've been grateful for a vast and diverse range of teaching experience over fifteen years. I've taught high school in both inner-city Chicago and rural Minnesota; I've taught middle school Humanities (literature and history!) and Language Arts. I currently teach high school English for a small, rural high school in central Illinois. I've taught gifted students, reluctant readers, English language learners, and students with special needs, and embraced all their passions as well as their learning needs.

Teaching style

If the kids are bored, I am too! My lessons are active and varied, but also thought-provoking, aiming to make student learning memorable, authentic, and challenging.

My own education history

Carleton College, BA in English with secondary focus in Education; University of Chicago, MA in Humanities; Bath Spa University, MA in Writing for Young People

Additional biographical information

I also write; my work has been published in Scholastic's Instructor and the Society of Children's Books Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) British Isles Journal and online newsletter. An extract of my middle grade novel Adèle won a place in the anthology "Undiscovered Voices 2010."
