Need an engaging states of matter activity to get you to thanksgiving break? explore the history and science behind the macy's parade balloons. Students get to create a balloon, observe a gas being heated and cooled and what that does to the balloon and the mass. Lesson plan included, slides to follow along with and a data sheet for students to record their experiment!

Students are given 8 parent cards with descriptive inherited traits and instincts as well as 8 offspring cards with descriptive inherited traits and instincts. The task is to match the offspring to the parent based on the give traits. Included is a reflection worksheet so this can also be used as a formative assessment!

Students will rotate "interviewing" each other by answering questions. Each question will be answered by a different student on their paper. At the end, I always have them choose who they would give the job to if this was a real job interview! Students love sharing answers from their classmates and they are answering questions too!
