Two-Step Equations (Flipped Video Curriculum)

Students explore how to analyze and solve two-step equations using a self-speak tactic that asks them to analyze the equation using the order of operations and then describe their inverse operations in the inverse order before solving. The notes increase student independence as they walk through the process of solving two-step equations. The lesson includes guided notes, a link to the flipped video lesson, an in-class opportunity for reteaching, and in-class practice problems. The in-class re

Teaching style

My style is unique. I utilize technology and media to engage my students. We don't just study projectiles, we study the Blues Brothers jumping a bridge. We don't just study rates and ratios, we plan a road trip using Roadtrippers.com. I encourage my students to try, not just give up. There's a difference between "I don't get this" and "I'm too lazy," that difference is a page full of wrong answers versus a blank page. I teach in a flipped class model, including custom made videos and guided notes for my physics and algebra classes. As a special education teacher I am very data-forward. My lessons are all based in Learning Targets which are assessed to compose an image of student understanding of the Essential Standards that the class is based on.
