About the store
I am a speech language pathologist in my clinical fellowship year. I work in the public school setting supporting children of all ages, disabilities, and skill levels. My strength in language acquisition and sentence generation provides me with insights others may not see. Prior to being an SLP, I previously taught secondary education with endorsements in English Language Arts, German as a Foreign Language, and English as a Second Language. I taught literature, writing, grammar, and cultural lessons for nearly 10 years before discovering my "home" in speech language pathology.

Things you should do when you have a crush

Social skills/speech pragmatics activity for middle school + students. This cut and paste activity page was built out of necessity for our students in special education in the junior high school. We used it as a class wide activity and just opened the floor to conversations while we worked independently. It helped us talk about this awkward topic without judgment-- after all, it's an assignment for everyone.

Experience

I am a speech language pathologist in my clinical fellowship year. I work in the public school setting supporting children of all ages, disabilities, and skill levels. My strength in language acquisition and sentence generation provides me with insights others may not see. Prior to being an SLP, I previously taught secondary education with endorsements in English Language Arts, German as a Foreign Language, and English as a Second Language. I taught literature, writing, grammar, and cultural lessons for nearly 10 years before discovering my "home" in speech language pathology.

Teaching style

As a speech pathologist, I incorporate my experiences as a teacher to create worthwhile extensions to narratives. I use evidence based practices in my speech therapy sessions and specifically employ narrative intervention methods to target academic and social language needs. Narrative unit extensions also allow for natural lessons and practice opportunities specific to different contexts. As a teacher, I stood by the idea that project based learning is the best method. We incorporate all of the different content areas in each unit and make connections. I like a classroom with lots of little routines. Tongue Twister Tuesday, Math Facts Monday, weekly book talks, Fluency practice on Fridays, and even Reading for Fun every Wednesday.
