This worksheet that has 10 problems that deal with parallel and perpendicular slopes. The first four problems given have 2 lines, and the students have to determine if the lines have parallel, perpendicular, or not related slopes. Two of these problems need the slope formula and the other two the student are required to get linear equations in slope-intercept form. The next four problems require the students to write linear equations, given a point, and a slope relationship. The last two p

This worksheet has 13 problems (with key) that are great because it get students used to application problems that work with formulas. They may be familiar with some of the formulas, but if they are not, they should still be able to create the equations and solve them. The second half of the worksheet works with figures that are given the area or perimeter and they have to solve the equation that they create from the picture. I love this worksheet because it starts the process of breaking dow

After leaving Alaska, I moved back to Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where I taught for 4 years and I was the department chair for the last 3 years. Teaching style

Each school that I have taught in has been considered a "low performing" school and I have always worked with students that come in lacking prior knowledge and the motivation to be successful. I create and use a lot of activities and games that help keep my students engaged. A co-worker of mine calls me, "The Game Queen."

Awards & shining teacher moments

I was a Level 5 teacher for the 2011-2012 in Tennessee, with some of the highest scores in Algebra 2 for the school district (which included my inclusion class)

My own education history

I graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School in 1994. I attended Florida State University and earned my Bachelors degree in December 1998 for Curriculum and Instruction: Mathematics Education (6-12). Masters, Mathematics Education K-8, University of Alaska Southeast.

Additional biographical information

I love teaching and I have always been able to make connections with my students and peer teachers. I hope that you enjoy my activities, worksheets, tests, and anything else.
