About the store
Welcome to LibraryLemons. For over 20 years I've been a librarian in a variety of settings - the past 17 years I've watched my students go from PreKs to fifth graders at a school library in Virginia. I love picture book biographies, word play such as idioms and cryptograms, and, of course, doughnuts. Most of the resources in the LibraryLemons store are ones that I pair with read-alouds in the Library, use in coordination with classroom teachers as we review skills (ABC order, for example), or provide as a word-related challenges.

As a summer school librarian at a library not at my home school, I get very anxious about learning student names, getting them right, and trying to make a connection in such a brief period of time. This one page free resource (one in color; one in black and white) is super helpful for the teacher librarian who will be the summer school librarian at a school other than their own. The checklist is broken down into before, during, and after tasks that hit the non-teaching tasks that are part of summer fun!

Teaching style

When I'm teaching without the use of technology, I prefer straightforward, unfussy black and white instructional materials. I can rely on a just a photocopier or maybe some card stock for a pop of color. I believe in modeling and then allowing students to explore resources on their own to pique their interest and find an authentic and personal reason for learning library skills.
