The video is 45 minutes long, free to watch on YouTube and appropriate for middle school and high school students. (I do not have rights to the video.) I show this in preparation for reading MLK's, "I Have a Dream Speech" and to commemorate MLK Day. I also include the key to the guided notes. Link is below. Remembering MLK

Teaching style

My teaching focus currently is on student engagement. I have recently been implementing the Building Thinking Classrooms strategies with my reluctant ELA learners. After teaching AP English Language and Composition for 23 years, I moved, changed schools, and now teach in a rural school with a much different dynamic. I feel like I need to learn how to teach all over again! Life long learning has taken on a new meaning as I try to reach my reluctant readers, writers, and learners.
