This Scientific Notation Tarsia puzzle is a great way for your students to practice writing numbers in standard notation when they are given in scientific notation. My students love them! They ask me to make Tarsia puzzles for just about every concept we study, seriously! They are great as a math center, quiz/test review, part of a Friday game day, etc. So much better than a worksheet! More fun than Task Cards or "I Have Who Has"! The students' enthusiasm is so rewarding, and I scored high mark

About the store

Experience

Most of my teaching experience has been in the upper elementary/lower middle school grades. However, some of my materials may be appropriate for all grade levels.

Teaching style

I like to keep procedures and lessons structured, but always keep in mind that flexibility is important. You just never know when creativity, a new great idea, an interesting conversation, or a need for some research will present itself!

My own education history

BA in Communications Writing; MA in teaching.

Additional biographical information

Outside the classroom, I am passionate about animal rescue, and often volunteer for a local rescue group in my area. I also love the beach in all seasons, am always in the middle of reading a book, and can often be seen in my neighborhood walking my two dogs. My husband is a very patient and understanding man, who encourages all the time I spend on teaching preparation and animal rescue. I'm lucky to have him!
