This activity is designed to have students discover the rules for operations with rational and irrational numbers. Each task card corresponds with a student assignment page. Students will Identify whether each number is rational or irrationalFind the sum/productDetermine if the sum/product is rational or irrational. Through completion of these task cards, all of the rules will be discovered and students all also practice identifying and classifying all the different representations of ratio

Set up the scavenger hunt around the room (be careful not to put it up in order!). Students can start at any point around the room. The will take the function, f(x), at the bottom of the paper and find its derivative, f’(x), using the power rule! Once they have the derivative, they will search the room until they find their solution at the top of another piece of paper in purple. Students can record their work as well as the image, which corresponds to their solution on the worksheet provided.
