Need an alternative to taking recess time away as a behavior consequence? I did!! So, I created WALKING TICKETS as an alternative. Now, when my students need a behavior consequence I use a walking ticket. Students walk in a specified area during recess instead of playing. They get the movement and exercise they need, but lose the privilege of playing or talking with friends. There are 3 versions Version #1 This ticket has a description of the consequence on the front (I like this version

Most primary classrooms use a lot of consumable items. In order to keep up with the need for pencils, erasers and other such items, we often need to ask parents to donate supplies to our classrooms. My Donation Door poster and request slips provide a way to post requested items. The file includes a Donation Door poster, request slips for pencils, erasers, markers, glue sticks, tissues, sticky notes, liquid glue, highlighter, crayons, stickers, hand sanitizer, dry erase markers, blank request

Do you have students who have issues with blurting out during lessons? Is the blurting disrupting the flow of your lessons and distracting other students? Need a way to discourage students from shouting out? I've been teaching for 30+ years and I have had some classes that really struggled to control shouting out during lessons. In an effort to discourage blurting, I created SHOUT OUT SLIPS. Students who are repeatedly blurting are told to fill out a SHOUT OUT SLIP. They write down whate

Need a variety of ways to organize your students? My team symbol cards are a great way to organize your students in a variety of ways. Each team consists of 4 cards. The cards show a team "logo", a number and a colored dot. There are 7 sets of 4 cards allowing for up to 28 students. Attach the cards to the students' desks and you will be ready to go. Line up by team "logo", ask the #1 at each team to collect papers from their teammates or have all the "red dots" get their coats first. You

Do your students work hard! Do you sometimes feel that they deserve a little break from their rigorous lessons? My little learners work so hard and are expected to do so much that I wanted to create something that was JUST FOR FUN! I surprise them with a lesson that wasn’t a lesson at all. In fact, an activity that would be like a surprise party! That is why I went in search of some fun activities for my class. I do not claim to be the creator of these activities, I learned about them from

Teaching style

I want my students be excited to learn new things and to be proud of their accomplishments! My classroom is a busy, busy place! My students are encouraged to take risks and to make mistakes! When a student makes a mistake and learns something new, I always say "WOW, we just watched you get smarter!" I hope they will always feel safe enough to take risks and learn something new!

Awards & shining teacher moments

I am most proud of the relationships I've built with my students! Many of these students have grown up and are now sending their children to my classroom. It is such a delight!

My own education history
