I am going to use these for the students to practice writing high frequency words. They need a partner.One student will read the word while the other student will write the word. If the student spells the word correctly, they will get a chance to shoot and score 2 points. They will alternate and continue the game as time allows or until they are out of basketballs (words).

These pictures help students visualize multiplication in real life scenarios! These can be used in small group or as a Write the room activity. It is a great way to get the students up and mobile, but still have them work on multiplication. There is a record sheet for them to do repeated addition as well. I have included the answer key.

The students use the record sheet and find the matching numbers around the room. When they find the number, they write down the plural of the word. I am using this to help students understand the features of nonfiction. They will also be responsible for explaining their features. The students will read a book of their choice independently. After reading their book, they will present their book with the requirements on the checklist. Let me know if you would like any changes. Match the groundhogs with the correct hole in the ground. The groundhogs have words that need either -s or -es added to them. They will sor tand glue the groundhogs into the correct category.

This will be used to help model groups of with pumpkin seeds and pumpkins. I have attached 3 sheets for the students to use to help guide the students.

I used this activity for the week before Christmas break. I made both kinds (homemade and store bought) hot chocolate. They tasted both without knowing which was homemade. They used observation to make a prediction. I incorporated the idea that scientists use their 5 senses to make predicitons.

I used this with my unit on Polar Express. It can also be used for train unit or just for fun. Each car of the train has a sentence on it. The students identify the parts of speech. They build their own gold to carry on their train car. I will modify based on your purpose for the lesson. I can do it with simple, compound, complex, kinds of sentences, certain part of speech. I have attached 20 train cars with simple sentences. They are able to identify nouns and verbs in these sentences.
