I currently teach a Preschool for All Learners Collaborative Classroom for 3-5 year students on IEPs. I've taught a kindergarten through second grade class for autistic students at a public school. My whole teaching experience has been with under served and under represented populations. Given their special needs and their difficult community and family backgrounds these students’ needs are greater than usual. The students are proud of their multicultural and bilingual backgrounds. They are excited about school and eager to learn each day. My goal is to empower them with the knowledge and confidence that they can learn and succeed despite the many challenges they face.

I hope you'll find this resource as helpful as I have!
Before guided reading was introduced to our school I'd heard about it from many of my friends at other schools. I researched many resources to learn more but I was unable to find everything in one place. So, this handbook is a culmination of my favorite resources. My intention was to develop a one-stop-shop for all necessary information. The instructional practices noted are what I know to be typical, but I encourage you to adapt it to mee
Here is a fun and quick activity I use to learn a little bit about my students. Its a great tool to help bring students together to find commonalities. You could also use the sheet as a graphic organizer for an all about me writing assignment. Students also love making the figure in the middle look like them. They can do this with crayons or you can shake-it up by using magazine cut outs.

I posted these pages on the bulletin board in my classroom with the calendar. The sheets are inside sheet protectors so that I can write on them with a dry erase marker. First we solve the problem of the day. We use the answer as our number of the day. We show this number in the several templates provided. Once my students build an understanding of the routine, I designate a weekly math wizard to complete the forms independently and present his/her findings to the class. Practice templates inclu
This file is meant to provide a daily snapshot of the student's engagement, participation and behavior in their mainstream classroom. There is room for daily quick notes and one place for a longer note. Students can take this to the mainstream room each day they attend. The special education teacher can review and address any concerns when needed. Easily filed into a student's portfolio for easy record keeping.

This set has been wonderful in helping my students get fun filled, daily practice of alphabetic knowledge through identifying letters, tracing letter forms or searching and finding letters within a cluster of other letters. The icons are available in three sizes so you may post in the size that works best for you. Mine are posted from the 2x2 print out which is great for a 3"x3"

Teaching style
I quickly learned that each year can be dramatically different. I have developed a style of teaching that is adaptable/flexible to my students individual needs. I've learned to prioritize those needs and not to sweat the small stuff. My greatest goal is to target where they are developmentally for their academic and social skills. I believe in strong communication with parents, service providers and administration so that they can understand the system, their student and how they must advocate for them. I also believe in making the students aware of their current skills and goals for growth so they can become part of the process.
