About the store

I started teaching at Richton Elementary immediately after finishing student teaching, before I finished my senior recital and got my degree. I'm in my first FULL year at Richton, and LOVING teaching K-6 Music.

I use this PowerPoint to have students pick the word (from two choices) that rhymes with the word at the top of the sheet. Use without showing for Phonemic Awareness. Present on the board in order to point out similarities and differences and match the rime. Print and laminate for center activities.

Experience

Teaching style

Every kid deserves a chance, but I can't do it for you. Kids have to be engaged and "caught" in order to learn, rather than just watching videos and doing busywork. Nothing makes my heart happier than a kid falling in love with a new song or an instrument he or she has never seen before in his or her life.

My own education history

I have a Bachelor of Music in Education from William Carey University with Vocal Music certification. I will soon be pursuing Instrumental certification as well as a Master's in Music Education from William Carey.

Additional biographical information

In addition to being a classroom and private lesson teacher, I have a husband, a four year old, a Maine Coon mix, and a mini-weener-doggy. Love my life!
