Greetings! My name is Cynthia Hockman-Chupp and during my teaching career I've taught just about everything: math, literature, writing, social studies, art, science, and drama. (I even had one stint teaching freshman girls' p.e.!) I have a M.S.Ed. and am certified to teach grades K-12; I've taught almost every grade in some capacity. Most recently, I've been a teacher, curriculum consultant/developer, and workshop facilitator, working with public schools, homeschools, and my own "laboratory school" in which I teach students from a wide variety of educational backgrounds.

Flap Books "Present" Multiples & Factors
Color, cut, and glue these little "present" flap books to review multiples and factors. Students write the definition of "factor" and "multiple" and list 5 multiples for numbers 2-10 and all the factors for 6,7,8,9,10,12,18,24,36. Scoot: Multiply & Divide Decimals & Whole Numbers by Powers of 10
Get moving with a game of Scoot as students practice multiplying and dividing decimals and whole numbers by 10 and 100.
In this game of Scoot, students move around the room to answer problems reviewing multiplication and division with whole numbers and decimals using powers of ten. The problems can also be used as Task Cards in a math center or as an extra for early finishers.

On the day that I announced that we would be using fidget spinners for a math activity, I learned that the gadgets were now banned. Short Story: Plot Diagram (Story Map for Fairy Tales & More!)
Using this Plot Diagram (also called Story Map), students record events as data points on a graph and label the sheet with rising action, climax or turning point, and falling action as they are discussed. The sheet could be used with any story. Two versions are included, one with a generic title (Plot Diagram) and the other for use with fairy tales (Fairy Tale Plot Diagram). The sample photo shows a plot diagram for Little Red Riding Hood.
I have used this sheet with students in grade 4 & up.

Feelings Journal: a Method to Help Process Feelings and Develop Emotional Skills
This Feelings Journal is designed to be used as a child is struggling with a feeling. During a moment of anger, frustration, fear, etc., rather than continuing to carry the miserable feeling, the child takes a moment to:

I created this poster to help students consider the characteristics of fairy tales and folk tales; it emphasizes how fairy tales are one type of folktale. We used it as a discussion tool and then students kept a copy for their language arts notebooks.
