Distributive Property Partner Practice Worksheet (Distribution/Distributing)

Copy this worksheet and cut in half (or have students cut it in half and give one half to their partner). Both partners have their own unique problems to work on. However, all of their answers will be the same for each respective number. This promotes communication and math talk. It is also a way for them to check their answers without having to go over them in the front of the class. Students love these!

There are 12 problems included on this worksheet. The students will begin solving in the top, left box. The answer will be in a different box. They will then solve that problem. They will continue in this pattern until they get the answer that is in the starting box. Upon completion of the circuit, they will have solved 10 of the 12 problems. This is simply a nice way for teachers to know they are truly checking their work or simply rushing through it. I have also recently fell in love wi

This is a self checking circuit worksheet. The students will begin in the top left box and solve that problem. The answer will appear in a different box, then they will solve that problem. They will work their way through all 14 problems and end up back at the starting box. This includes one each of a no solution and an infinite solutions problem.

Ratio Boxes Guided Notes & Worksheet (Ratio and proportions word problems)

Ratio boxes are a visual way for students to set up their proportions when solving story problems. Their goal is to complete 2 rows inside of the ratio box, and then use those two rows to set up their proportion. Once their proportion is set up, they can use the cross product property (cross multiply) and solve it. These are very helpful for varied learning levels. These guided notes slowly remove the ratio boxes and force the students to draw their own.

Students begin by solving the equation in the top, left box. They find their answer in a different box and solve that equation. They continue this pattern until they reach the starting equation. If they follow the circuit correctly, they will have solved 12 of the 14 problems. This is a wonderful self checking worksheet. The 2 'bonus' problems do not have correct answers anywhere on this worksheet; so if a student solves one of them and can't find their answer, it's because they did somethi

This is a self-checking, circuit style worksheet. There are 12 problems. The students begin in the top, left box, solve that equation, find their answer in a different box, then solve that equation, and continue in this pattern until they return to the starting box. If they solve each problem correctly, they will work their way through only 10 of the 12 problems. I also included pictures of the answer key. I know they are not the best quality pictures, however, they should do the job :) En

This is a self checking, 18 question circuit worksheet. I included all three types of proportions problems; algebraic, real world, and similar shapes. The students begin by solving the problem in the top, left box. They find their answer in a different box and solve that problem. An answer key is included.

Two large diagrams that you can color code along with your students. Then a chart where you could have your students summarize/recall what they learned during color coding. Practice is also included at the end. If you copy this at 80%, the charts would fit into your interactive notebooks.

Systems of Equations - Solve by Elimination Circuit

This circuit includes 10 systems which are set up to solve by elimination. Some can be solved simply by adding, some by subtracting, and some by multiplying 1 equation by a number to get the x terms or y terms to cancel. Two of the problems have 'no solution' or 'infinite solutions.' The students will begin by solving the system in the top, left box. They will look for their solution in a shape in a different box. They will continue this until they return to the starting box. Answer key i

This circuit includes 10 systems of equations set up to solve by elimination. There are a few that only require adding, some that only require subtracting, and some that require multiplying 1 of the equations by a number to get the x terms or y terms to cancel. There are also two problems which give 'no solution' or 'infinite solutions.' The students will begin in the top left box and work their way through the circuit, completing all 10 problems, and ending at the starting box. The answer k

Ready to print practice for writing and graphing linear equations. My chart contains 20 boxes, with 5 of them filled in. The students work to fill in the missing boxes. They must know how to rewrite linear equations in standard form, slope intercept form, neither form, and how to graph a line (and write equations if given a line). I included the key for quick checking.

Experience

I am in my 17th year of teaching. I have been in a high school the entire time. I have taught almost every different mathematics subject at many different learning levels.

Teaching style

I have used interactive notebooks for about 5 years now. Students love having a place for their notes, they enjoy the organization, and they enjoy the 'easy' points when I grade them. I ask a lot of questions during the hour and always give the students time to think. If I will be asking random students for answers, I warn them that it's coming, ask them to write down their answers and check them with their group members, and THEN I randomly ask a student to share their "guess" as I call it (in case they're wrong). I try to keep my students from getting bored. Math isn't exciting for most high school students so I try my best to keep my class light and as fun as I can.
