Fraction Of The Day
I have my students do this each morning/beginning of our math block depending on the school schedule. I have seen it make a difference when kids do this for the weeks/months after beginning our unit on fractions with much more retention that student who do not do this practice daily.
I give them one page a week and have them work with a different fraction each day: find equivalent fractions (any strategy they can use), compare fractions, show/represent it, and then a space where I can do somet

Teaching style
High expectations are above all else. Without those set expectations, students will not know what they are working toward. I like having students work together and learn from one another. It is important to know at the end of the day what each individual student understands and has grasped, but working together in collaboration is a huge life skill for many careers.
