This is a great unit to help you get started with your literary circles! There are really fantastic resources for literary circles if you search the web, but they were a little overwhelming for me (and my students) not to mention that I'm not made of paper!

When it comes to standardized testing, I find that most of my students knew the material, but just didn't understand the question itself. One thing that really worked to increase test scores with my students is to teach them the "test terms" they will be asked on their standardized tests.

*I give all my IEP students a copy of this at the beginning of the year and tape it into their notebooks!
I hang these above three folder pockets I post on the wall. Instead of giving students an exit ticket (let's be honest, they either end up on the floor, scattered across my desk, or in the trash anyway) I have students write their name on an index card or slip of paper and put it in a folder on their way out.
This made my life easier because...
