Family Pedigree Project

Created by

This project is really fun for students in their first study of genetics. Using the guidelines and a survey data table, students make a pedigree of their family traits. I made this for 7th grade life science but it would also be okay for grades 6th-10th graders in their first study of genetics. It is a three page document which includes a data table for the survey and a letter home to the parents explaining the project.

An assignment for life science to have students make an advertisement for a microscope. Includes criteria of what should be included and how it will be graded. Just a quick one page paper - but an idea of an assignment kids love to do.

Experience

I have been a teacher for 25 years. Most of this time has been spent teaching high school physics and Calculus but I have also taught most all math and science subjects in grades 6-12.

Teaching style

I teach a hands-on science class where students learn by doing. In my math and physics classes I like the students to understand what they learn and also practice. I try to make both math and science fun and enjoyable but also challenging and content rich.
