Sometimes it’s hard to find ways to get beginning level ESL students to speak up in the beginning of the year. One easy thing I’ve done in my classes to overcome this challenge is to have my students create a collage or poster about themselves and present it to a group of 3-4 students. I find that having students present in groups makes everyone feel more comfortable to speak up and ask questions that help everyone get to know each other too. Challenge your students to change the stereotypical Cinderella narrative and write their own Cinderella characters instead. This is a basic creative writing activity for primary age students.

This product is a collection of 20 photos with motivational quotes on them. Watch out! I specifically chose bright photos because I have a personal preference for this style in my classroom. I like to use them to generate class discussions or to use as writing prompts. I find that they work well with oral speaking practice as well, in that students can make short videos on their laptops about a few of the photos. Hope you find creative ways to use this resource!
