I have worked as a college French professor and as a private tutor in French for years. I have worked as a public school teacher in the Denver metro area since 2017 with all levels of French learners in both middle school and high school. I am a firm believer in language acquisition using comprehensible (and compelling!) input. I have been trained in CI/TPRS in courses taught by Blaine Ray, Carol Gaab, Stephen Krashen, and Beniko Mason. I started using acquisition driven instruction in the fall of 2017, and it's so exciting to see my students grow with this method.
Sandrine is searching for approval from her parents. She wishes her father would accept her as she is. This movie talk, geared towards intermediate learners of French, is a touching story of acceptance and a wonderful way to include your LGBTQ students in your class. Materials include guidance on movie talk and anticipatory activities, a 2-page written story, a comprehension-based game about the story, a guided output activity, and an open-ended writing activity.

Teaching style
Acquisition Driven Instruction. My goal: kids acquire the language through fun stories whose plots distract them enough that they forget they are in language class. While I am still required to teach some grammar, I value students' communicative ability much more over grammatical perfection. While challenging, the class should FEEL easy for students. The best compliment I got from a student was when he told me at the end of the year that he "loved that we seemed to just use French to tell funny stories and talk to each other, and yet he left knowing and being able to use so much French."
