About the store
I have worked as a college French professor and as a private tutor in French for years. I have worked as a public school teacher in the Denver metro area since 2017 with all levels of French learners in both middle school and high school. I am a firm believer in language acquisition using comprehensible (and compelling!) input. I have been trained in CI/TPRS in courses taught by Blaine Ray, Carol Gaab, Stephen Krashen, and Beniko Mason. I started using acquisition driven instruction in the fall of 2017, and it's so exciting to see my students grow with this method.

Digital Learning Verb Anchor Chart

One of the most difficult things for me transitioning to online or distance learning has been being outside of my classroom where I have anchor charts posted all over my room. I have converted my sweet sixteen (actually 18) posters to one double sided reference page for students. The document includes 18 high frequency verbs (infinitive, 3rd person singular forms in present, imparfait, passé composé, and futur) as well as interrogative words on both sides.

Teaching remotely? This is a great way to help your students when they don't have access to your classroom and your wonderful anchor charts. The background includes question words and 18 high frequency verbs in 3rd person singular present. All of the words will frame you in Zoom so you can still teach with CI and give your students that extra input help.

Experience

I have worked as a college French professor and as a private tutor in French for years. I have worked as a public school teacher in the Denver metro area since 2017 with all levels of French learners in both middle school and high school. Teaching style

Acquisition Driven Instruction. My goal: kids acquire the language through fun stories whose plots distract them enough that they forget they are in language class. While I am still required to teach some grammar, I value students' communicative ability much more over grammatical perfection. While challenging, the class should FEEL easy for students. The best compliment I got from a student was when he told me at the end of the year that he "loved that we seemed to just use French to tell funny stories and talk to each other, and yet he left knowing and being able to use so much French."

My own education history

JYA, Université de Paris IV (La Sorbonne), History B.A. French and History, Magna Cum Laude, Tulane University M.A. French Literature, University of Texas, Austin Professional Teaching Certificate, K-12 French, University of Colorado, Denver

Additional biographical information

When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband and 2 kids and our dogs. I love exploring the beautiful state of Colorado and the world with them, and you will usually find me with a camera in my hand recording our adventures.
