This is a game I made that is very much like a Mad Libs (with which I have no association) word game, except that I focused completely on adjectives for this story. I used this activity as an ending game for a unit on adjectives, so students had already generated lists of adjectives they liked. All they had to do for this activity was write their twenty favorite adjectives (and I didn't give them the story until the adjectives were spelled correctly) and plug them into a short story. If you like this product, please rate it so I know to post things like it! This is my take on the ILP (Individual Learning Plan). It is the most detailed, most inclusive, and most comprehensive ILP I've ever seen. I use this ILP to document assessment data in one place and make decisions about how to meet my students' needs. I also show this document to parents during conferences to show them students' strengths and weaknesses. I have broken down subjects (Reading, Writing, Math and Life Ski
This version of a classic game requires students to practice short word lists while they are convalescing in emergency rooms. It's really fun, so students love it, and you can use your own texts, including sight words, vowel sound lists, word family lists, vocabulary lists, or even very short readers and informational paragraphs.
I use this Google Form to keep track of problematic student behavior. I can use the response tab to see quick data regarding which students are exhibiting frequent problematic behaviors, when behaviors are most often occurring, which types of behavior are occurring, etc. I can also download data as an excel spreadsheet and delete the rows I don't need if I need to display a specific student's negative behavioral patterns. Helpful hint: Use the "Option 1-20" if you use numbers frequently whe
Every kid likes balloons, and when they play this game, they have so much fun with the balloons, they don't care that they're practicing identification of vowel spelling patterns or math skills or even basic reading comprehension. They work in teams, too, so they offer each other support.
Lose track of classroom books? I tend to forget what I have. This is what I use to keep track. I keep one digital copy and I post a hard copy inside the cupboard where I keep books. When I open the cupboard door, I can search for books by title, author, or reading level to choose the right book for the student or the group.
I originally came up with this game to help me teach affixes, which is a really important concept and one with which many of my students struggle. However, it has almost limitless possibilities, as it can be used to reinforce vowel sounds, spelling patterns, basic math facts, factors, and parts of speech.
This is just my version of a classic parachute game, updated so that I can teach vocabulary while my students think they're having fun. It can also be used for reinforcing spelling words and can be extended to require higher order thinking.
This is a really fun game to practice spelling, and it can be used with simple words or multi-syllabic words. This game is great for tactile learners, students work in teams, and they are building foundational reading skills. Maybe the best part of this game is that kids have fun, so they don't mind practicing a skill with which they usually struggle.
This is a fun active game to help reinforce sight word recognition, but I've also included some ideas for how it can be used to practice other subjects, like vocabulary, Battle Books, and basic comprehension.
This game is an obvious adaptation of a traditional game. You can use it to teach a lot of different phonics skills.

Teaching style
I put students first. When I look at lesson objectives, I think, "What can I do to make sure my students learn this and how can I make this fun and meaningful for my students?"
Awards & shining teacher moments
I was inducted into an honor society while I was getting my Master's degree, but I don't remember what it was called. This year, my students voted me the best teacher they had this year. I remember that award really well.
