I have taught math for 29 years in grades 6 - 8. My classes have included many different populations of students, including general education, Special Ed, English Learners, Intervention, and Math Honors or Math Accelerated.
These problems include practice with solving a one-step inequality involving multiplying and dividing, then graphing the inequality on a number line. All coefficients, whether whole number or fraction, will be positive so there is no reversing of the inequality. This resource includes a 2-page assignment (33 problems) and answer keys (steps shown). Problem types are show work, matching and graphing. Terms of Use are included in the file download. A very common mistake when graphing inequalities is when variables appear on either side of the inequality and students don't read it correctly to graph it. They might just look at the inequality symbol and not realize the variable is on the other side. This worksheet has practice with reading and graphing the inequalities when the variable appears on the right or the left side of the inequality. This resource has a worksheet (16 problems), answer key and Terms of Use included in the file downlo
This assignment has practice with solving and graphing one-step inequalities involving addition and subtraction (examples: x + 1 > 3 and -1 +x ≤ -3). All answers are integers. This resource includes a 2-page worksheet (35 problems) and answer keys (steps shown). The problem types are show work, matching, and graphing. Terms of Use are included in the file download. I use this handout as a mini-lesson (part notes and guided practice) to introduce my 6th graders to reflecting points. This is also a good review worksheet for a transformation unit in geometry in grade 8 and above. This resource includes a 2-page worksheet (33 problems) and answer keys. The problem types include the definition of reflection and guided practice with reflecting points in each axis (4 problems each axis). Then students practice each type of reflection on their own (8 problems each
These problems involve solving a two-step inequality, then graphing the solution set on a number line. Lots of practice! This resource includes 2 worksheets and answer keys (with steps shown). First worksheet - Solve & Graph Two-Step Inequalities #1 (18 problems with positive coefficients only) Second worksheet - Solve & Graph Two-Step Inequalities #2 (18 problems with positive and negative coefficients) Terms of Use are inclu
In this assignment, students can be introduced to the different types of inequality symbols and what each one means in words and by reading the inequality. One of the struggles students have with graphing inequalities is not having enough practice with reading or verbalizing the inequality itself to make meaning. This worksheet walks them through an easy introduction to graphing all four inequalities. This includes a 2-page assignment (33 problems with number lines when necessary) and answer key
In Common Core Math 6, students become familiar with plotting points in the Coordinate Plane and finding the distance from one point to another. They must be able to use these techniques to solve mathematical problems, such as perimeter and area. This resource includes: A 2-page assignment, an exit ticket, and all answer keys. Problems offered include plotting points (to draw polygons), identifying polygons (rectangles, parallelograms, triangles, and trapezoids), finding perimeter and/or area w
Students will solve systems of equations with one solution by graphing linear equations in the form x = a, y = b, and y = mx + b. This resource includes 2 worksheets (each with 8 problems) and answer keys. Terms of Use are also included in the file download. Other systems of linear equations resources: Solving Systems of Linear Equations by Graphing in Slope-Intercept FormSolving Systems of Linear Equations by Graphing (One Solution) Worksheets #1-2
Students will use systems of linear equations in the forms x = a, y = b, and Ax + By = C, to graph and identify their one solution as an ordered pair. This resource includes 2 worksheets with 8 problems each and answer keys. Terms of Use are also included in the file download. In 5th grade Common Core Math, students learn to plot points in the first quadrant of the Coordinate Plane. This resource includes: A 2-page assignment, an exit ticket, and all answer keys. Problems offered include plotting points, identifying ordered pairs, following directions to move around Quadrant I, short response and multiple choice. Problems and questions are targeted at learning how to graph points. The Learning Objective is a practice series intended for use in one class period about
Need additional practice with different question formats for graphing points in Quadrant I? This resource will help your students identify and plot points in Quadrant I. Problem types include: plotting points, identifying ordered pairs, fill in the blank, vocabulary, true or false, create your own, describe the graph, and multiple choice. These are NOT worksheets with repetitive problems. These handouts help to check for understanding with different problem formats and keep students engaged thr
