To compare fractions, students will cut and sort if a fraction is less than 1/2, equal to 1/2, or more than 1/2. Students will then use the fraction sort to compare fractions.

Student can solve the riddle using a place value chart and/or partial products strategy. This riddle goes with Grade 4 Module 3 Lesson 7 in Engage NY/Eureka. Riddle: "Which of the Thanksgiving beverages is considered to be sad?" The answers they get will help them record the correct letter to spell out the answer.
Activity with Engage NY Grade 4 Module 6 Lesson 4: Display the 5 task cards around the room. Provide each student with page 1. Allow the students to go around the room to identify the fraction and decimal modeled in the tape diagram. The answer they get will be displayed under the riddle question. Students will record the task card letter above their answer to spell out the answer to the riddle.
Puzzle Match Up Directions: Print each puzzle and cut along the lines to create four separate pieces for each puzzle. You can laminate beforehand to reuse in the future. There are a total of 10 puzzles and 40 pieces. Students will match a picture, decimal, fraction, and unit form to create the full puzzle. This can be implemented after Grade 4 Engage NY Module 6 Lesson 1.
Engage NY activity for Grade 5 Module 4 Lesson 22. Students will cut out the expressions and sort them based on the scaled factor. If the scaled factor is less than 1 whole, it will make the product less than the whole number factor. If the scaled factor is more than 1 whole, it will make the product greater than the whole number factor.
