Making Primary Math Fun

Activity with Engage NY Grade 4 Module 6 Lesson 4: Display the 5 task cards around the room. Provide each student with page 1. Allow the students to go around the room to identify the fraction and decimal modeled in the tape diagram. The answer they get will be displayed under the riddle question. Students will record the task card letter above their answer to spell out the answer to the riddle.

Directions for teacher: Print pages 2-3 for students.  Display the lettered task cards around the room.  Students will solve each expression utilizing the order of operations.  Once they get their answer, they will record the letter above their answer on their worksheet. The letters will spell out the answer to the riddle. Answer key included.

Differentiated task cards for finding a decimal on a number line. The task cards are color coded based on level (yellow, green, blue), with yellow being the easiest task card, and blue being the hardest.
