Teaching style

I believe students learn best by doing. In this way Science and Social Studies aren't that different. The perfect example of this is the Google Earth lesson which requires the students to actively look at the earth to find data using satellite images instead of just using an atlas.

Awards & shining teacher moments

My first year teaching I was awarded teacher of the year. Since then I have received my National Board Certification.

My own education history

I attended the University of Maryland College Park where I received a BA in Secondary Education. I have also taken 75 credits worth of post-college credits that range from Outdoor Education classes to technology classes such as how to make better lessons using Word, Excel, and my Promethean Board.

Additional biographical information

I've been able to travel a large chunk of Europe and have used knowledge from my trips to help inform my teaching.
