I have been teaching JH math in Texas for 19 years, and I still LOVE it! Many people think I am crazy, but I cannot imagine doing anything else. I have found my true calling!!!
This file includes everything you need for a full week of REAL WORLD Math!
To begin this weeklong activity, I teach a lesson on converting between fractions, decimals, and percents. The following day, I teach how to calculate, and the impact of, discounts and sales tax. The notes, practice worksheets, and keys are included for both of these introductory lessons.
Once these two background lessons have been mastered, the real fun begins. On days three and four, I have SALES signs posted all

Solving equations is a skill that has to be mastered for students to perform basic algebraic operations in later years. While it seems so logical to me, my students often struggled with what steps are to be taken first (+, -, x, ÷), even though it is just order of operations…in reverse.
A few years ago, I started using “Equation Estates” to teach this, and the confusion no longer exists. We even had a little fun along the way! I teach JH, and they can TOTALLY relate to this set up!

This file contains 34 cards that "I have, who has" cards that are to be distributed to students. Hopefully 34 is more than you will need during any one class! It is a looping set, meaning that the last solution "answers" the first card. This version is addition and subtraction of integers only. This is a great way to review before moving on to multiplication and dvision of integers. Enjoy!

My students ALWAYS cringe when they hear me say the word “fractions”. But that is not necessary if they can learn to use a 12 x 12 or 15 x 15 multiplication chart to work “Magic”.
In this zipped file you will get a complete lesson for simplifying fractions (one lesson that is in a complete bundle I have listed for sale) by using a completed multiplication chart. It includes the following:
• 12 x 12 multiplication chart for students to complete (and key). • 15 x 15 multiplication chart for s
This file contains the instructions, worksheets, and a rubric for a FUN sorting and graphing activity. Each child gets a small snack pack of skilltes. They are first asked to answer a few general questions about what they THINK will be in the bag when they open it. Then, they will sort out the colors and create a bar graph and a pie chart. BEWARE, getting them to count BEFORE eating can be a challenge, so make sure you set the ground rules before passing out the packs. This could be done wi
This file contains an editable PowerPoint Bingo game, a reproducable blank Bingo card to be printed for each student, and the solution to the game. This game reviews basic understanding of integer rules. Problems in the file include all four operations, as well as four real world applications that must be set up then evaluated. This is a great way to review at the end of an integer unit, or before state testing.

This file contains a set of 60 matching cards (30 expressions and 30 solutions) that review multiplication and division of integers. Each sheet has 6 expression cards, followed by the corresponding solution cards. You may choose to make multiple sets and have groups work with all 60 at once. Or, you can prepare fewer sets, and place 1 to 2 sheets worth of cards at stations and have students rotate. I have also included a worksheet for students to document their work, as well as a solution
This activity is designed to be used weekly (all year) to reinforce comparing and ordering numbers, and the numbers get more complex as the year progresses. The students will start with just positive integers, and end with ordering all forms of numbers on a single number line. To use this activity, you will need to hang a taught piece of string or yarn somewhere in your room that is easily accessible to all students upon their entry to the room. Each student will be given a number and needs t
This file contains two versions of an activity to familiarize students with equivalent fractions, decimals, and percents. This can be an individual activity or completed with a partner.
Version 1 - Students will cut apart a scrambled puzzle sheet and glue them onto a blank 5 x 5 square template. The numbered squares make it easy to check for accuracy.
Version 2 - The 5 x 5 sheet needs to be printed on cardstock, laminated, and cut apart before distributing them to students. Students will ju

This activity is designed to be used a fun review for converting between fractions, decimals, and percents.. As students enter the room, you will tape a number to their back (they will not look at it).
They can only as "yes" or "no" questions until they determine the value of their number. Once they do that, they will then go to the front of the room to create a human number line based on how their number compares to the rest of the class.
