This Kagan Strategy resource is a great activity for work with story problems. On one side of the card there is a key math term and the other side indicates the operation that would go with the key word. This resource would also be great to use for a constructed response. This resource was designed to encourage my students to work harder at answering MSTEP and NWEA style questions and to justify their answers.

This is a unique resource for mathematics. A five minute write is a written reflection for a math concept. I typically use them at the end of a unit. I have included five examples of five minute writes to get you started and a growth chart for students to keep track of the number of words. Students are timed for five minutes and they write as much as they can in five minutes. This is to increase their writing fluency.
