Exponents Jeopardy Game (power point)

This Jeopardy-style review game is free so you can sample one before paying for any of the others. The slides are all unlocked so that questions can be modified as desired. This is a power point Jeopardy-style game for exponent simplification rules. There are 5 categories with 5 questions of varying difficulty and corresponding point values. From the question board, click on a question's point value and the question appears on the screen. Click again to display the solution. Click the "home"

AP Physics 1 Lab - Introduction to Kinematics

This lab has students work together as a class to take position and time data for four scenarios. The moving "object" is a classmate walking at various speeds. Students then graph the data and a class discussion, lead by 8 questions at the end, is had. I use this lab before teaching any kinematics formally. It serves as a nice introduction to the basic concepts. It should be noted that all of my AP 1 students are first year physics students whose only exposure to physics is 6 weeks of "physical

AP Physics 1 - Rotational Kinetic Energy and Angular Momentum (teacher version)

This is the teacher version of the notes (set 0603 in my series)! Solutions, derivations, and discussion points are included. These notes are a blend of a conceptual and quantitative approach, although I went "light" on the quantitative material. They should provide a solid foundation upon which to build when teaching these difficult topics. As always I market my notes as a "starting place" for those who are new to teaching physics. They are designed for you to either be used "as is" or modif

These notes focus on simple projectiles. Discussion focuses on concepts, equations, and diagrams. There are 7 problems (one of which is a "mini lab") designed to foster class discussion. The problems involve mathematics, but some involve justifications and concepts as well. Text books typically contain a wealth of calculation-based problems, so not many were included here. Since this is the teacher version, all solutions are included. Recommended discussion points/teaching tips are also include

Lesson Plan Template - Common Core Mathematical Practices/Strategies

This template is great for high school mathematics teachers that are looking to plan their life one week at a time! Teachers are able to include their "I CAN" statements, the standards that are to be covered, a brief outline of the daily lesson and a reflection - all on one easy to review document. This is great for documentation, lesson planning and keeping your curriculum organized! Make your life easier and plan it a week at a time!

Parent Functions - Graphing Absolute Value and Quadratic Functions

Ready to use guided notes for teachers to introduce graphing parent functions to their students. This presentation introduces the parent function and then investigates the effects adding/subtracting integers has on the parent functions. Introduces rules to transforming a parent function and then invites the student to come up with their own rules for subsequent examples.

AP Physics 1 - One dimensional motion and kinematics graphs (Set 0102 )

This is a handout of guided notes to introduce students to one dimensional motion conceptually and graphically. Basic kinematics definitions and graphical analysis are emphasized. It is highly recommended going Lab 03 (also in my store) before covering this information. This is intended for an AP Physics 1 or honors physics classroom. Given the nature of these problems, the student/teacher versions are combined in one file with solutions to in-class practice problems presented at the end of the

Teacher-version of class notes. The kinematics equations are derived and emphasis is placed on using them to solve problems. Adding and subtracting one-dimensional vectors are also covered. There are notes and seven practice problems designed to facilitate class discussion. All of the problem solutions, filled in gaps, and a few points of discussion are included.

Mad Minutes - Arithmetic!

At the push of a button this spreadsheet automatically randomly generates new worksheets (and an updated key) for what we call "mad minutes." Mad minutes consists of 20 arithmetic problems that students are to complete at a relatively quick pace without a calculator. The purpose is to increase numeracy and automaticity. I've even used these in Calculus to enhance students' number sense. I can add other worksheets/functionality if requested and I will release updates free of charge.

Experience

I have taught Algebra I to ninth graders for 5 years. I have experience teaching Accelerated Geometry and also Algebra II. I now work as a special educator in high school mathematics. My husband teaches AP Calculus, AP Physics, and Precalculus and has 11 years of experience. He also contributes to my store's materials.

Teaching style

I prefer to break the content down as much as possible when I introduce new topics. I have found that the more engaged your audience is, the better they perform. I have been amazed at what students can accomplish when given the right opportunity and encouragement.
