This project uses tables to solve for the GCF and LCM of two or three numbers. Using "t-bars" rather than factor trees, students learn to easily pair up matching prime factors to determine the solutions to GCF and LCM. Vocabulary is reviewed for prime factorization, prime numbers, composite numbers, exponents, and base, as well as the vocabulary for GCF and LCM. Several examples are given for prime factorization with exponents and for finding GCF and LCM. By Math Fan

Teaching style

I prefer for students to work in pairs. Students have a warm up activity and a review of concepts taught in the unit so far, then are taught a lesson and work in pairs to solve the day's problems. Each student is responsible for a math notebook containing vocabulary, examples, formulas, drawings, definitions. Homework is typically a review and practice assignment to be completed within a couple of days. Students have my home phone number, and can receive tutoring before or after school.
