This is an EDITABLE download for a worksheet that correlates with a standard deck of playing cards. It is ideal for each child to have their own deck, but you can easily do this in pairs, groups or as a class.
Sadly, students don't know what is in a deck of playing cards these days. I designed this sheet to give them a quick hands on lesson where they can look in a deck and work with it to find simple probability. The first part of the sheet asks basic questions about the deck of cards:
How
Shade Halloween images into basic fractions such as 1/2, 3/4, etc. Students are able to work with fractions while they color and have fun with Halloween images like pumpkins and ghosts!
Open a packet of M&M's and see how fractions can be FUN!
Use this page to help guide students in making and simplifying fractions after finding the colors you get in fun size packet. Sometimes you need student's to have different work so it is noticeable who understands and who doesn't. This is a quick beginner lesson to help understand parts and wholes.
Help students learn and memorize the most often used fractions by converting them to decimals! This chart is a necessity to my students' binders or interactive notebook every year!
