I have taught grades 7-12 and also served as a math specialist with the Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Inititative (AMSTI). I am now working as an 8th grade math teacher in my community and loving it!
This resource is a great way to close out the year with your students. I use it with my 8th graders, but it would work great with almost any grade level. This listing contains a Google Drive link so that the prompts can easily be edited for your own classroom. ENJOY!! If you would prefer a PDF download, click here PDF version.
These are the classroom jobs that I use in my middle school math classroom. Here you will receive Google slides with job descriptions, a job application, and job assignment pages for display.
This is a word wall for a high school mathematics class. I print these on bright colored cardstock, cut out each word, and post them in my room. Throughout the semester, I highlight different words on the "Word Wall" and refer to them often during class discussion.
(26 words included)
An excellent resource for the beginning days of school (or anytime, really!). This provides a great platform to get students talking about themselves, mathematics, and their mathematical mindsets and histories. I'm always amazed at how much I learn about my students through this exercise. (I've seen several versions of these floating around the internet. I created my own so I could personalize it a little.) A PDF and editable Word document are included in this download. Editable grading rubric

A card sort activity with levels of differentiation. Start with triangles & steepness, then move to matching slope, linear equations, graphs, tables, and even scenarios.
This is by far one of my FAVORITE things to do during the first week of school. It definitely builds community and provides a fun way to get to know your students better!
An engaging, hands-on activity for exploring circles and the relationships among diameter, radius, circumference, and area. A few supplies needed, but always a hit with middle schoolers! I hope you enjoy!
A great and simple way to get students to talk about mathematics (and use their vocabulary!). I have used this simple acrostic in different ways--very open and general (anything goes!), related to a particular unit using vocabulary, or as a semester wrap up where they have to use different words or topics we have learned.
Here's an easy way to spread the math love in your classroom! I created these for my 8th grade math classroom. There is a color and black & white version for printing on colored cardstock.
