Logarithm Expansion/Condense Matching

Created by

This is a one-page matching worksheet for students to be able to recognize and evaluate logarithms that are expanded and condensed after they have learned log properties. After they match the expanded logarithm to the condensed version, they evaluate it. The solutions are on the second page. I use this as an end-of-class activity to do a check for understanding.

Vocabulary Word Searches - Logs, Rationals, Inverses

After each unit test I like to give my students a light, fun post-test activity and I do it with these vocabulary word searches. It keeps the students quiet in class while the others finish their test and offers an easy homework grade or extra credit points towards the test. The word searches cover three individual topics - logarithms, rational expressions and inverse functions. The answers to each word search are on the page that follows the word search.

I used this as a Bell Ringer for students to be able to pick out the roots from a list of evaluated coordinates then create a factored form of the polynomial. Then the students multiplied the factors to find the standard form which is always good practice.

Binomial Random Variable "Quiz"

When I introduce binomial distributions with random variables I have each student take the "quiz" where they are truly guessing multiple choice answers. I do this to not only introduce binomial probability but to prove that your chances of passing a quiz by guessing are extremely low. The worksheet has two quizzes on the first page and 4 possible solutions on the second page. The expected value and probability of passing the quiz solutions are on the second page. This is a fun little activity to
