About the store
I started my career as an accountant. I taught economics, science, and mathematics at a small high school for many years. After earning my masters degree in math, I began teaching at the community college level. My children have renewed my interest in K-12 mathematics and I have been rewarded by discovering a blossoming online math community from which I can learn and develop as a college instructor.

SCUBA - or whatever floats your boat
Students will be introduced to ideas such as density, Charles's Law, Boyle's Law, and buoyancy. They will model with mathematics, using linear equations, ratios and rates. The students will apply the ideas and physical properties to scuba diving and transfer the knowledge to explain why objects float in air. Ultimately, students will become "teachers" of the subject and will work together to create a model and poster session.

California Water Project
Students apply math as well as reading and writing anchor standards while learning about water distribution, usage, and conservation in California. Math topics include advanced arithmetic, number sense, rates and proportions, measurement, and algebra. ELA topics include research in addition to writing informative and argumentative essays.
