Learning about court cases is an important part of Humanities, Social Studies, and Citizenship. This activity involves the investigation and discovery phase of a court case. The presentation contains 2 cases for students to investigate, find witnesses, and decide on questions for witnesses. Student planning, worksheets, and cards are included along with teacher notes and pacing. This is a great activity for collaboration and group work in intermediate and middle grades along with GT students.
46 Creative Writing prompts to get students engaged and wanting to write! Prompts are in order of the school year and contain holiday prompts along with a set of mystery prompts. I have used these prompts for both 4th and 5th graders, and all students have loved this fun time of the day. All prompts have fun timers to keep students on track.
Students will learn about the California Gold Rush then write a letter as if they were on the trail. Students will then learn to "weather" their letter to look authentic and finish with a drawing lesson on sketching a covered wagon. Short videos are linked along with step by step instructions.
