197 PowerPoint Slides 5th 6th Grade Review (Test Prep)

This is a 197 PowerPoint file that has many custom animations and sounds that can be used in whole group or small group. I prefer to use this file in small group settings in a computer lab that has Microsoft PowerPoint. Students that are near the same ability level partner up and work on this together. When a problem appears, they work it out, compare/discuss as needed, click to find the answer, and then click again for the next problem. EVERYTHING HAS ANIMATION and SOUND. This is also excellent

Decimals, Computation, Area, Perimeter, Mode, Median, Mean, Range

This is another review worksheet of basic math concepts that students need to master in order to pass statewide testing. The answer key is also included to post for students to use as needed. It is essential that review is done at a minimum of 2-3 times per week in order for students to not forget things that have been taught.

24 PowerPoint Slide Computation Review Math Fluency 5th 6th Grade Math

This PowerPoint presentation consists of 24 slides that are custom animated to review decimal and fraction computation. Exponents and order of operations are also thrown in the mix as well as a few other concepts that frequent statewide assessment testing (you can preview all questions to see all the math content). I typically throw in a few slides each day in my daily math review so kids can constantly rep out past concepts. Once kids get in the hang of this routine, it can easily be reviewed f

Add and Subtract Fractions Mixed Numbers w/Fraction Concepts

This is a worksheet to do after some extensive practice has already been done on adding/subtracting fractions. I sometimes will use this well after a "unit" has been taught to touch up on the basics of adding and subtracting fractions. I usually will pull kids to work with in a small group setting that need more help. The answer key is posted on my class website for students to reference as needed, come get help from me, etc. Sometimes if kids are taking advantage of the answer key being posted,

Area, Real World Application, Decimals, Division, Word Problems

This is one example of a multi-step word problem using AREA in REAL WORLD CONTEXTS (area of 4 walls and buying paint to cover) in which the previous answer builds into the next problem, similar to any statewide assessment given to kids. Frequent repetition on these types of problems builds confidence for kids to not get freaked out when given a multi-step word problem.

Beginning of Year Math Test Prep #1

It is never too early to give students math problems in word problem/testing format. The more often students work on these kinds of problems, the better. EQUATIONS, MONEY, and VARIABLES are always formally tested and I do these weekly. This 2 page worksheet also includes an answer key in RED showing work and number sentences for your students to see the correct thinking when solving if you post on a class website, online, etc.

Multiplication Whole Numbers Estimation Exponents POWERPOINT

This is a 29 Slide PowerPoint lesson on multiplying whole numbers. This covers some word problems, mental math of numbers that are multiples of 10, estimation, and even has some exponents on the last few slides. There are even slides on the multiplication of larger digit numbers by larger digit numbers. All slides are animated with sound. Click, the problem pops up and students work it out, click again the answer pops up, click again a new problem pops up, etc. I like the sound feature as my stu

Quick Number Sense Visual Questions in PowerPoint 25 Slides

This 25 slide PowerPoint file is used to quickly touch base on some number sense each day. Simply add a slide or two in your daily PowerPoint presentation so students can not only review some basic computation skills, but learn how the same value can be written different ways. This file builds up one's decimal, fraction, and computation skills. The answers are at the bottom of each slide when not in slideshow format. Some answers have many types of interpretations which is highly welcomed in my

Add Subtract Round PlaceValue Decimals Word Expanded Standard Form

This is the PowerPoint file I use to teach decimals all at once for my 5th grade classroom in whole group instruction on dry-erase boards (lots of drill and practice; as students finish adding/subtracting decimal problems, they can always write their answers in standard form as a fraction, in word form, and expanded form). I use place value blocks when I do and give students a conceptual/visual to understand when I do. This file has animation and sound with each question. For example, start th

Test Prep Whole Numbers Place Value Number Sense Order of Operations

It is NEVER too early to start prepping for standardized tests. This worksheet takes your basic place value and increases the rigor to match those types of questions that are being asked on statewide assessments. I do this at the start of the school year with my students. This worksheet not only teaches place value as a POWER OF TEN, but also works on basic operations such as regrouping when subtracting and even order of operations as the answers are written out to show multiplication (parenthes

Teaching style

Never let the brain stop working. Stimulating the brain is most important. Constant review is always spiraled in lessons everyday. I use these worksheets and Power Points daily and frequently pop quiz to hold students accountable. All students are always randomly called on to keep them honest and engaged 3-4 times per class when whole group instruction is used; independent work time and small group instruction to rep out math problems are critical to do each day. Students are expected to work as the expectations are set high; it can be a culture shock to start the year, but students show great growth.
