Evaluating Limits Analytically - Circuit

Objective: To be able to write evaluate limits analytically using algebraic manipulation (factoring, rationalization, and direct substitution). Types of limits: limits to integer values only that result in rational values only (no limits at or to infinity), two-sided limits only. Note: students should have familiarity with evaluating limits using direct substitution, factoring, and rationalization without the use of a graph. INCLUDES:Circuit (w/ instructions) - 18 limit problemsAnswer Key

Limits from Graphs - Around the World

Objective: To be able to write determine one- and two-sided limits from graphs. Types of graphs: functions with vertical asymptotes (no horizontal or slant), holes, and/or jumps. Types of limits: All limits are to an integer value. There are no limits at infinity, but some of the limits are to infinity (or negative infinity). Limits may not exist (when the left and right hand do not agree only). Note: students should have familiarity with evaluating limits using direct substitution, factoring, a

Experience

I've been teaching middle and high school math since 2014. I currently teach Integrated Math 2 Honors, Probability Theory, Intro to Statistics, and AP Statistics. Over the last five years, the average passing rate for my classes in AP Statistics is over 75% (2024 - 80.5% w/ 54% 4's and 5's).

Teaching style

My classroom is focused on the "EFFL" style of teaching: Experience First, Formalize Later as popularized by Luke Wilcox and Lindsay Gallas of Stats Medic, Calc Medic and Math Medic.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Kappa Delta Pi Honors Society (Hunter School of Education), and the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award.
