Rounding Decimals Practice with Number Lines - Students often struggle with rounding because they do not understand what is actually going on mathematically. Rounding is really just about choosing the value that the original number is closest to. This lesson will demonstrate to students how to use number lines to represent rounding with a visual model. Common "rules" such as rounding up when there is a 5, or carrying when there is a 99 in the number are addressed and modeled within the lesson.

Going into my 18th year of teaching math this Fall 2025. My resources are geared toward higher level thinking and problem solving for students learning 6th grade math curriculum.
Teaching style
I create a positive and collaborative learning atmosphere by connecting my students to the content and the lessons. I use manipulatives, centers, UDL menus, technology, pop culture, and student interests to make lessons more engaging. I use discovery lessons, and I teach the meaning behind the math. My students often work collaboratively to discuss problems, come to solutions, and correct misconceptions.
