My students absolutely loved doing this project!! It allowed them to be extremely creative with their quadratic love stories as well as creating a selfie with a quadratic function.
Let me know what your students think :)
Editable jig-saw activity template. Try it with your students today. Assign 2 problems to each group of students (3-4) and assign roles to hold them accountable.
In need of station work for your students? Or centers for a quick review lesson of what was learned in the past few weeks?
I created 8 different stations, with each focusing on a specific skill in Algebra 1.
For each station, students had 5-7 minutes to complete. They worked in "struggle time" for the first 2 minutes and then if they needed help, they asked a friend in their work.
In addition to the station work, I put in a "notes" section in each of the folders. On the "notes" sections, stud
Here is a similar figures packet I put together for my students for our unit on scale drawings and similar figures. It is broken down by lesson titles and each lesson follows by a mini-lesson, a classwork handout and then a hw assignment.
The file is a doc file for you to edit to meet your student needs.

In need of a lesson on average rate of change? And some spiral review questions? Well, look no more! This lesson provides ample examples with a skills checklist and self-reflection piece as well as targeting the new hallmarks of literacy. This is great for an algebra 1 class, honors algebra 1 and ideal for an algebra 2 class!
This test assesses students on their understanding on angle geometry (primarily CCSS: 7.G.B.5.

In need of a survival kit for your students to review, fill in and keep for use during the unit? Give this a go. I have included different sections for students to fill in during the unit. This assignment is collected the day of the unit test.
This is a great resource to give students during the unit of percent applications which is a major concept in 7th grade. I give this to my students during the unit and collect it the day of the unit test. It acts as a re-inforcer of all the material learned during the unit as well as a review guide for future exams.
I needed a way to get my students engaged in learning and take more autonomy in the classroom so I created this handout that allows students to reflect on how they worked in their "math teams" and self-assess their work.
At the end of the month, the math team with most 5's or stars earned a prize.
So far it has been working so keep our fingers crossed!
Try it for yourself.
Try these leveled math labs for your 6th or 7th grade students. It gave my students the opportunity to problem solve at their level first independently and then in groups. Let me know what you think.
Great for a group or table activity for a quick review on solving 1 or 2 step equations.
Just make enough copies for each table to share or enough for each student to keep.
Great resource for introducing multi-step problems to your students. This handout uses a problem solving organizer where students need to think about what the question is, what they know from the problem and how they will solve the problem. Includes 4 challenge problems at the end of the handout. Try it out!
In need of a problem solving day for students? This activity is called a Math Lab for no other reason but students using the time and tools they know to problem solve. This problem was all about buses and figuring out how many buses are needed for a Six Flags trip.
It can be used from grades 6 and up and can be solved with multiple approaches. Try it with your younger students and you will be surprised by the different strategies they use. Let me know how it went for you.
