Here's a cool seasonal math craft that you can use to teach, introduce or reinforce fractions, decimals and percents. Even kids "not ready" for these concepts will have fun with the craft - and may even be able to do the math! Check out more details on how I created it at www.MathFour.com/numeracy/indian-corn-fractions-decimals-percents. Oh - and make sure to let me know how it goes in the comments & ratings section below!

Using probability tree diagrams to teach probability is helpful - but sometimes kids need a little practice with them. This worksheet has 11 probability tree diagrams to be "worked" as puzzles. This gives students practice filling them in and understanding the dynamics. Once they have this practice, they can effectively use probability trees diagrams as tools. Make sure you also download my Probability Trees Explained free "cheat sheet."

Discovering Operations with the If You Give a Man Some Hands ebook

This 41 page activity packet contains a fun ebook that uses the same domino effect that other books like If You Give a Mouse a Cookie use. It explains intuitively how we developed our number system and operations - from counting to addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. It also contains the Illustrator's Workbook, a "blank book" that your students can draw their own illustrations in. Since the book uses "stick figures," children are encouraged to draw regardless of their skill lev

Comparing Algebra Problems with Examples and Solutions

Students struggle with comparing their work to an example. This activity helps them learn to dig into solutions and compare them - seeing where there are commonalities and where there are differences. (Note, they don't have to know anything about algebra to do this - it's merely a comparing exercise.) Give it a try and let me know how it can improve. I'm deploying this today! ~Bon

About the store

Experience

I have over 25 years in teaching and tutoring math - 17 years of which have been in the classroom. I'm currently teaching math at a private special education school to students ages 12-20 and developmental level 2nd grade - 12th grade.

Teaching style

Having struggled through strange and interesting bits of math myself, and having tutored my best friends in math through high school and college, I have a teaching style that works very well with students who are less than confident in their abilities. What I've always told them is this: "I'm not better in math than you are, I'm just more confident."

Awards & shining teacher moments

I had a student switch schools once to continue to take my classes!

My own education history

Bachelors and Masters Degree in Mathematics

Additional biographical information

I'm a math mom to two fun kiddos - born 2009 and 2013. Working on a side project called "That's Math."
