Students will use a straight edge to draw two convex polygons and discover the triangle sum theorem by connecting the vertices and completing a guided chart.
This is a discovery activity where students will use plastic pieces of various lengths that snap together forming sides of triangles in order to discover the relationship between the side lengths of a triangle and the types of triangles they form, if they even form a triangle.
This can be done with different size popsicle sticks, straws or even string.
At the end of the activity there are essential questions that students are required to answer, leading them to the properties of triangles they

Teaching style
Discovery Based Learning is what my teaching preference is. Allowing students to take responsibility for their learning and guiding them through the process helps make the content "stick" better than presenting it through lecturing. They also enjoy the various activities and differentiation the DBAs allow.
