I love starting the year with students completing a Mathography as it helps to get to know them better. I used to included allergies as well as preferred pronouns on here, but I will let you decide if you want or need to add those options. I keep these and refer to them throughout the year, especially the favorites section when I feel like a kid needs a boost.

One of the best activities if you set it up correctly. Students are creating their own mystery number problems, and the rest of the class will solve them. Two-Pen Percent Problems

This is a great activity that I've used both as a warm-up as well as a class activity that promotes discussion regarding strategies for finding the percent of a number. The problems selected are connected, so it is designed to encourage follow-up questions about how they used certain problems to solve others.
