Matthew Fallon

In this lab students determine the density of sand and use that information to see how much sand can be put into a film canister and still have the film canister float on water. The lab is set up as a competition with the winner receiving an extra bonus point on the lab. The winner is the person who has the heaviest film canister that floats on water. This is a challenging density activity for any college preparatory level high school chemistry class.
