About the store
Hey there! I'm a 6th year teacher of sewing and fashion for 6th - 12th grades, with 30 years sewing and garment construction experience. I create projects and tutorials designed for students to visually understand the sewing and construction process and learn by doing. I discovered in the sewing classroom that students ask A LOT of questions, and spend too much time waiting on my assistance, so these detailed instructions with real pictures help duplicate myself in the classroom as a resource. I have personally made sequential projects for students to grow and learn. The added benefit to these project instructions is that students are able to move on at their own pace, and can maximize productivity in class. I hope they can benefit your classroom as well!

With each project, students should think and reflect back on their process. Being mindful helps them stay accountable for what they need to improve on, and celebrate what they did well. The grading rubric on the back keeps the teacher accountable for consistent grading and setting expectations.

Teaching style

I teach using backwards design. All my lesson plans and projects build to the greater goal of students being able to design and construct their own designs eventually at the higher level of my classes.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I received Teacher of the Month in the 24/25 school year, which was a heart warming moment hearing student quotes about me and my class during assembly. A shining teacher moment is seeing my high school students that I've taught for years design and make their own homecoming and prom looks.

My own education history

My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 8, and I mostly figured out how to sew and design by taking apart and studying other garments. I was formerly taught in a brief semester in art school, followed by internships with several designers. Eventually transferring and graduating with a business degree, I owned and operated my own independent women's wear line. Succumbing to the comfort of salary and healthcare, I worked for Amazon (Fabric.com) for 10 years as their textile expert for marketing and content creation. My freelance work has included custom projects for a variety of clients, as well as on-set wardrobe work for film and commercials. Years of sewing/fashion experience combined with my love and value for children led to me to start a Fashion program at the school I work at currently.
