Graph Match-Up Relay: Interpreting Key Features of Functions Description:Bring energy and engagement to your Algebra or Precalculus classroom with this hands-on graph relay activity! Students will make real connections between equations, tables, graphs, and verbal descriptions as they interpret key features of functions—such as intercepts, intervals, maxima/minima, and end behavior—within meaningful contexts. In this fast-paced, collaborative activity, students race to match four representations

Experience

Welcome to MEcademy — "Own Math, Your Way, the ME Way". I’m a mathematics educator with 20+ years of experience teaching both college-level and secondary math, as well as SAT/ACT test prep. I create classroom-tested resources that make math accessible and engaging through hands-on activities, clear scaffolds, and real-world connections. My goal is simple: help teachers teach with confidence and help students see math differently.

Teaching style

My classroom (and my resources) emphasize: Hands-on learning: stations, manipulatives, card sorts, puzzles, labs, and projects. Clarity and scaffolding: step-by-step models, guided practice, then independent application. Concept first, procedure next: visual models and multiple representations before formal algorithms. Productive struggle: error analysis, “why it works” prompts, and reflection checks. Differentiation: extension/enrichment, supports for emerging learners, and alternative versions. Assessment for learning: quick checks, exit tickets, and review cycles aligned to standards.

Awards & shining teacher moments

What I’m most proud of: Watching “I’m not a math person” turn into “I can do this.” Seeing SAT/ACT students raise confidence through targeted practice and strategy. Hearing from former students who chose STEM pathways after rediscovering math. Collaborating with colleagues who adopt my activities and report stronger engagement. Those quiet classroom wins when a hands-on task makes a tough concept finally click.

My own education history

I have over two decades of professional practice teaching mathematics across secondary and post-secondary levels. Over the years I’ve continued formal professional learning in curriculum design, assessment, and college-readiness instruction (including SAT/ACT strategies). My work centers on aligning skills with standards, strengthening mathematical reasoning, and building durable understanding.

Additional biographical information

Mission: design low-prep, high-impact math resources that help students experience math as logical, visual, and doable.
