About the store
I started out teaching alternative special education to 6th graders in 1997. In 1998, I wanted to teach science because it is my passion and moved to an alternative high school where I taught all sciences from grades 9-12 to people ages 16-22. When funding was no longer available and our school was shut down 6 years later, I moved to a junior high school in the area. Many of my former students said their hate for school started there and I wanted to be able to help them along instead of seeing them drop out...that was 8 years ago. I still work with at-risk students trying to help them value and desire an education and imparting them with knowledge that will help them become life long learners. I have training in many different areas and serve as a new teacher mentor, state assessor, and still to this day take classes to help me better my professional life. I have also been trained through the following programs: LASIP - 3 years LAgearup ABC Connections - 2 years Math Tips Intech - 2 years La State Assessor Trained LA State Mentor Trained

The Cell Review Game for SMART boards

Created by

This is a review game for a lesson on the cell using the SMART board as a board game to review. I did not create this game, but I did revise it and change a couple of things on it. It had no directions when I got this from a friend, so I made up some and typed them in. I have some student directions and teacher information on the last slide of it. I have used the review questions with both 7th graders and 9th graders and the questions can be changed if needed. I am not charging for creation

This is an interactive SMART notebook presentation that I made for use as atmosphere basics. It was used with 9th-12th graders in environmental science, but is so basic that it could be used for lower grades. There is a foldables assignment on it that aids greatly in that.

This is a basic SMART board presentation which introduces the atmosphere. It includes a video clip and some interactive components. I did not author the clip, but the presentation is something that I made. I used it with my Environmental Science Classes. There is a foldable activity that is included on the presentation. If you are not sure how to make this foldable, please contact me and I will send you directions and pictures.

Teaching style

I like my classroom to be a safe place where students can succeed and express themselves as they take home positive learning experiences. I am not a dictator in my class. I like to facilitate and let the children learn by doing.

My own education history

I received my BS in education from Nicholls State University in 1997. I have a concentration in Biology with my minor being General Science. I have since taken many many graduate classes for "fun" as well as to increase acheivement with my students.

Additional biographical information

I am finally going back to complete my masters degree. I have enough hours to have my plus 30 plus some, but nothing that goes together for a degree. I apparently just like going to school!
