About the store
I started out teaching alternative special education to 6th graders in 1997. In 1998, I wanted to teach science because it is my passion and moved to an alternative high school where I taught all sciences from grades 9-12 to people ages 16-22. When funding was no longer available and our school was shut down 6 years later, I moved to a junior high school in the area. Many of my former students said their hate for school started there and I wanted to be able to help them along instead of seeing them drop out...that was 8 years ago. I still work with at-risk students trying to help them value and desire an education and imparting them with knowledge that will help them become life long learners.
I have training in many different areas and serve as a new teacher mentor, state assessor, and still to this day take classes to help me better my professional life.

Behavior Documentation Sheet
I used this as a detailed behavior documentation sheet for students when i taught middle school. It is a chart that can be ran off back and front and utilized for an entire nine weeks. There is a key to the infractions and lines for notes and info from conferences and phone calls. I had one per student as the need arose.

Using Fruit to Teach Math Measurement Lab
This was designed to teach my students measurement and utilize the math skills they had to apply it to real life situations. They used fruit because it is not always perfectly shaped and and they have to do some problem solving as they work through the questions.

Teaching style
I like my classroom to be a safe place where students can succeed and express themselves as they take home positive learning experiences. I am not a dictator in my class. I like to facilitate and let the children learn by doing.

My own education history
I received my BS in education from Nicholls State University in 1997. I have a concentration in Biology with my minor being General Science. I have since taken many many graduate classes for "fun" as well as to increase acheivement with my students.
Additional biographical information
I am finally going back to complete my masters degree. I have enough hours to have my plus 30 plus some, but nothing that goes together for a degree. I apparently just like going to school!
